Barrett Tree Service, Inc. of Sheffield, MA seeks a reliable, rugged individual with a valid driver’s license and strong work ethic to join our Accredited company as a full time groundman/groundwoman. Applicant shall possess a genuine interest for our trade of arboriculture. Individuals with “it’s just a job” mentality need not apply. We will train the right person, over a five year apprenticeship, how to perform ground and aerial arboricultural operations and how to operate relevant equipment.

This is a position with unlimited opportunity for advancement/learning potential as ground person position will evolve to tree climber, crew leader, equipment operator, salesman, and or plant health care technician. Applicant must love working outdoors in all types of weather and have a passion for hard work, safety, attention to detail, and trees. Our crew leaders possess a ‘command’ style of leadership and applicant needs to be able to execute tasks as per crew leader’s specific instructions. Applicant needs to possess an anticipatory style of work in order to maintain constant movement.

Applicant is expected to perform at 110% physical output consistently throughout the day and on a day to day basis. Duties applicant will perform the first day will include but are not limited to PPE, job site communication, buddy system, water, nutrition, feed brush into chipper, 3 step rule, windrow brush, rake the line, winch cable operation, driving chip truck, and fueling chainsaws. Physical fitness and pre-employment drug screen is part of our interview process. Base pay is $14 hour.
